Common Grounds - Coffee House and Desserts

Common Grounds at 219 N. Salem Street in downtown Apex is one of the most beautiful coffee houses I've seen locally, or for that matter, far away. It's bright, and colorful, and feels fresh and vibrant. The building is a classic, beautifully rennovated. For details read the April 8, 2008 Cary News story. There's art on the walls. Music happens on Friday and Saturday nights. (Is there a website somewhere?) There are snacks and sweets and of course many coffees, and gifts.

Welcoming guests to Common Grounds this morning was a young barrista (barristo?) named Jared Vaughn, originally from Apex, but recently back from Asheville. I ordered a macchiato for $2.55 plus tax, which could account for the energy I had for the next three hours taking photos about town and meeting people.

The shop also sells ice cream - maybe Italian ice - but definitely cold. To find out for sure call them (919)387-0873 and ask. And there's more, much more, including the nicest women's bathroom this side of the Mississippi (just kidding, haven't been to that many!)

Common Grounds has two owners; one of them is Julia Diaz who moved to Apex from Mississippi after Katrina for a new beginning. See the news video and story now on ApexMyNC.

Common Grounds has a MYSPACE page. (Updated 8/6/08)

Here are a couple of reviews.
